The Huntington County Visitors Bureau’s free rent contest has come to an end and Antiqology, an up-and-coming business currently housed next to the New Huntington Theatre, is the winner.

Late last year, the Visitors Bureau offered a year of free rent in its annex building, located at 401 N. Jefferson St. in downtown Huntington. Several businesses applied for the year of rent — which also included a three-year commitment to leasing the space — but Antiqology came out on top, HCVB executive director Tina Bobilya, said.

Shoppers have traveled more than 100 miles to visit the Hanson’s retail store, which offers a mix of antique, vintage, handmade and repurposed items. The shop is outgrowing its current location, Bobilya says. Antiqology was selected as the winner after finalists in the contest presented their business plans to the tourism board.

With this new acquisition comes new opportunities for continued growth and to expand our products & services. Thanks for all your support. We look forward serving and growing Huntington.

Renovation will start on the building in mid-March and we plan on being open in the new space the first week of May. Look for lots of new items (we have a lot more space), and several new services that will make your visit much more enjoyable.

Excited to see what you do with your new space and also to see what new items you will have for sale. This building is unique and your business is too. It is sure to work well together.
